What is a Unit Stand Down?
In times of combat operations, a unit stand down meant removing exhausted units from the battlefield to a place of relative security and safety for rest, re-equipping, and recovery. Today, a stand down is a community-based intervention program to help homeless veterans “combat” life on the streets.
Last week, on Friday, October 3, 2014, Bosley & Bratch helped serve the veteran community in Grant County, Indiana, by participating Grant County’s third Veterans Stand Down. The number of veterans who attended increased immensely from last year, so by that standard the event was a tremendous success. But, more importantly, the success can be measured by the help provided to veterans including legal counseling from veterans disability attorney Andrew Rutz, who discussed specific issues with dozens of veterans who were in need of sound advice. It was our pleasure to help make this year’s Stand Down a success, and we are looking forward to greater success in the future.
