No Set Time Deadlines for the VA on Claims or Appeals Process! Time Deadlines Imposed on Veterans.

It’s no secret the VA imposes a number of time deadlines on veterans filing or appealing VA disability claims.  These deadlines can be as little as 30 days. However, the there are NO TIME DEADLINES FOR THE VA for anything it does in the claim/appeal process.  Whether it’s a time limit for issuing a decision on a new claim, scheduling an examination, scheduling a hearing, issuing a decision on appeal at the Regional Office or later at the Board of Veterans’ Appeals, the VA’s regulations and laws conveniently make no mention of any time deadlines for the VA.  As a result, appeals now take 6 to 7 years or longer to be resolved.  Some cases last 10 years or more.  Many times, the veteran dies while waiting for a decision.  This is a travesty of justice because justice delayed is justice denied.

Please help spread the word about this problem by sharing this post and letting your Congressman know the VA needs to be held accountable for its actions by having specific time limits to do things.

If your VA disability appeal has been delayed or you need help supporting a claim for veterans disability compensation, we are here to help. Call Bosley & Bratch at (800) 953-6224 or complete our free veterans benefits case evaluation form.
