On Tuesday, October 31, Bosley & Bratch will host its 2017 Halloween Blood Drive to help blood shortages in the wake of the many national tragedies that have occurred in recent weeks. The blood used in emergencies such as hurricane relief or mass shootings has already been processed and stored. This means the current national need is high!
To thank those who lend a hand (or an arm!), our event partners will be giving away limited edition Halloween t-shirts AND a wellness check up — blood pressure, temperature, iron count, pulse, and cholesterol screening. Our festive friends who donate in costume will be entered into a drawing for 2 Tampa Bay Buccaneers Tickets!
Here are a few blood need statistics to inform you on how your donation could be used:
- According to the Red Cross, every two seconds someone in the U.S. needs blood.
- According to the American Cancer Society, more than 1.69 million people are expected to be diagnosed with cancer in 2017, many of whom will need blood during their chemotherapy treatment.
- A single car accident victim can require as many as 100 pints of blood.
Help save a life and come donate with us!
If you are unable to attend our blood drive, check the Red Cross website to find a drive or donation center near you.
Donors are not eligible if they have low iron, consume specific medications, have high blood pressure, have been diagnosed with cancer, have recent tattoos or piercings, are pregnant, or have traveled to Mexico, China or the Philippines within the last 12 months. You can read more about eligibility on the OneBlood website.
