Physical & Mental Impairments

Has My Injury or Condition
Been Recognized by the SSA?

For SSD and SSI purposes, the Social Security Administration defines a "medically determinable impairment" or condition as one that results from "anatomical, physiological, or psychological abnormalities which can be shown by medically acceptable clinical and laboratory diagnostic techniques." The SSA's rules further state that a "physical or mental impairment must be established by medical evidence consisting of signs, symptoms, and laboratory findings-not only by the individual's statement of symptoms."

If that information sounds confusing to you, you're not alone. In fact, many people find themselves so frustrated with the process of trying to obtain disability benefits that they stop pursuing their claims.

Don't give up. Call our lawyers instead.

At Bosley & Bratch, decades of experience with disability claims and the SSA itself have made this firm an invaluable resource and source of help to people who are suffering from disabilities in the state of Indiana. In short, we understand the complicated rules of SSD and SSI evidence requirements set forth by the SSA, and we are familiar with many of the various disabling impairments they provide guidelines for.

A very short, very abbreviated list of the many recognized SSI and SSD impairments we have seen in our practice over the years includes:
